Today, the Class of 2026 celebrated their 100th day of Year 12. As they embarked on this significant chapter earlier this year, Head of Year 12, Sophie Pidgeon, introduced a unifying theme to guide the cohort: Different Pieces. Connected Purpose.

Grounded in Ruyton's values of Connection, Kindness and Curiosity, the theme recognises that every student brings their own unique strengths, perspectives and identity to the community. While each student's journey through Year 12 will be different, it is through belonging, supporting one another and embracing their individuality that the cohort becomes stronger. It is a powerful reminder that every student has an important role to play and that together they create something greater than any one individual could achieve alone.

Having walked alongside many of these students since Year 8, Sophie has witnessed their growth as individuals and as a cohort. Reflecting on the significance of reaching their final year together, she spoke about the strength found in embracing each student's individuality while fostering a shared sense of purpose and belonging.

The theme builds on a message first introduced at the end of Year 11 as students were preparing for their final year at school, "You are a vital piece of the puzzle – Class of 2026." Throughout the year, that message has been reinforced through visual reminders in the Year 12 space and, most importantly, the relationships that underpin the Year 12 experience.

The puzzle theme reflects Ruyton's commitment to pastoral care, recognising that while every student's pathway is different, success is built through strong relationships, genuine connection and a supportive community. It reminds students that personal growth and collective responsibility go hand in hand, particularly during a year that brings both challenge and opportunity.

As the cohort enters the second half of the year and begins preparing for final assessments and life beyond Ruyton, the message remains as relevant as ever.

With the finish line now in sight, the Class of 2026 continues to carry this message forward: Individually Unique, Collectively United. It is a reminder that every student has an important place within the Ruyton community and that, together, they are creating something far greater than any individual could achieve alone.
