Why Work at Ruyton?

At Ruyton, we are custodians of a 147-year legacy of courage and character. We believe that when heart, mind and community are nurtured together, people do their best work, and young people thrive.

Just as we bring out the personal best in every girl, we are deeply committed to bringing out the personal best in our people. Our community has told us what matters most, and our work is grounded in three shared values: Curiosity (Mind), Kindness (Heart), and Connection (Community). Together, they guide how we think, how we act, and how we belong.

Our Values in Action

Curiosity (Mind) We are agile thinkers who enjoy intellectual challenge.

At Ruyton, curiosity fuels professional growth and innovation. We value people who ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, and seek better ways of doing things. Curiosity is both critical and creative, driving analysis, imagination and courageous thinking.

We embrace learning as a shared endeavour. Our people are supported to experiment, reflect, learn from failure, and grow through challenge. With humility and openness, we recognise that we do not have all the answers, and that our strongest learning happens together.

Kindness (Heart) We believe we matter to one another.

Kindness at Ruyton is strength in action. It is expressed through compassion, empathy, respect and care for ourselves, for each other, and for our students. We value integrity in practice: keeping our word, acting consistently, listening deeply, and leading with humanity.

We are committed to creating a workplace where every person feels seen, valued and supported. Kindness shapes how we lead, how we collaborate, and how we respond to challenge, ensuring our community is one where people can thrive.

Connection (Community) We believe belonging and shared purpose inspire us.

Connection is the heartbeat of our school. It is more than belonging, it is a shared commitment to stand with and for one another, to build trust, and to foster an inclusive and joyful community.

Our people work collaboratively across disciplines and roles, united by a common purpose and a Whole School approach. When people feel connected to each other and to something greater than themselves, they are empowered to make meaningful contributions and positive change in the world.
