Ruyton Girls’ School Scholarships – Entry into Years 7-12 in 2027

Ruyton Girls’ School is pleased to offer a limited number of Excellence and Foundation Scholarships for students entering Years 7 to 12 in 2027. These scholarships recognise outstanding talent, leadership, and commitment across various disciplines, as well as support families requiring financial assistance.

Application Process 

Part 1: Complete the online scholarship application via this link: Scholarship Application Form. This is the first part of the application. 

Part 2: After submitting Part 1, families must register their child for the Academic Assessment Services examination. Although payment has already been made, registration is still required to secure the student’s place in the test. 

Important: Students who do not complete registration for the assessment will not be permitted to sit the examination and will therefore be ineligible for scholarship consideration.

Important Dates 

Friday 8 November 2025 – Final date for online applications and exam registration 

Saturday 15 November 2025 – Scholarship examination held at Ruyton Girls’ School 

Areas of Excellence 

Students applying for an Excellence or Foundation Scholarship may be considered under one or more of the following categories:

Applicants are encouraged to provide supporting evidence such as portfolios, certificates, or references.

  • Demonstrated academic excellence in science, mathematics, or related disciplines. 
  • Participation in STEM-related competitions, clubs, or extension programs. 
  • Evidence of innovative thinking or problem-solving abilities. 
  • Research projects, coding experience, or engagement in scientific inquiry. 
Community Service / Citizenship
  • Active involvement in local, school, or global community initiatives. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, or environmental causes. 
  • Leadership roles in service-based activities or not-for-profit organisations. 
  • Endorsements or references that highlight empathy, responsibility, and initiative. 
Entrepreneurship / Endeavour
  • Evidence of entrepreneurial projects, initiatives, or small business involvement. 
  • Participation in enterprise programs, pitch competitions, or innovation fairs. 
  • Creative problem-solving and initiative in launching new ideas or ventures. 
  • Resilience and motivation demonstrated through personal or academic challenges. 
Leadership
  • Leadership roles within school, sporting teams, clubs, or community groups. 
  • Ability to inspire, support and guide others toward shared goals. 
  • Strong communication and organisational skills. 
  • Recognition through leadership awards or programs (e.g. school captaincy, peer leadership). 
Music
  • High level of proficiency in one or more instruments (including voice)
  • AMEB or equivalent examination results (if applicable). 
  • Participation in bands, orchestras, ensembles or solo performances. 
  • Achievements in music competitions, festivals, or eisteddfods.

Music Excellence Scholarship Requirements 

Ruyton Girls’ School recognises and supports students who demonstrate exceptional musical ability. Applicants for the Excellence or Foundation Scholarships with a focus on music are required to provide evidence of their achievements, including AMEB or equivalent results. Voice applicants are equally encouraged to apply, with the same expectations of musicality, discipline, and performance experience. 

Voice Applicants 

Students applying with a vocal focus should demonstrate comparable achievement in voice studies, though AMEB grading is not required. Evidence may include solo performances, choir participation, vocal competitions, or musical theatre experience. AMEB grades, if achieved, are welcome but not expected. 

Performing Arts
  • Participation in drama, theatre, or dance performances inside or outside school. 
  • Demonstrated skill and passion in acting, directing, choreography, or stagecraft. 
  • Recognition or awards in local, state or national performing arts events. 
  • Willingness to contribute to Ruyton’s performing arts programs through academic studies and/or performance.
Sports
  • Excellence in one or more sporting disciplines at school, club, state, or national level. 
  • Commitment to training, teamwork, and sportsmanship. 
  • Representation in competitive teams or sports leadership roles. 
  • Achievements in regional, state or national competitions. 
Visual Arts
  • Strong portfolio of artwork across various mediums (e.g. drawing, painting, sculpture, digital). 
  • Recognition through competitions, exhibitions or showcases. 
  • Creative expression and technical ability demonstrated through submitted work. 
  • Passion and commitment to developing visual art skills over time.
