The Old Ruytonians’ Association (ORA) is proud to foster a spirit of innovation and leadership within our alumnae community. The ORA Fellowship supports Old Ruytonians in pursuing projects that demonstrate vision, leadership, and a commitment to making a difference. This initiative provides funding and mentorship to help our Old Ruytonians realise their ambitious goals.
Guidelines
The ORA is excited to announce that it will be offering fellowships to ex-students, commencing in 2025. These fellowships will be to support endeavours which in some capacity contribute to the local, global or school community through work, charitable activities or study.
Amounts available will range from $5k-$10k. Applications for smaller fellowship amounts are just as welcome as larger applications.
To apply for a fellowship, you must fulfill the criteria as follows:
- Left Ruyton at least three years prior. Exceptional applications that do not fit this timeframe could still be considered.
- Completed the ORA Fellowship Application Form
- Supplied two written references 1. Personal 2. Project
- Been assessed by the ORA committee
- Committed to become part of the ORA committee for 2 years from completion of your fellowship
- Present to current students at the school about your project/work/experiences associated with having received a fellowship, within one year of receiving payment
Eligibility and the amount offered to candidates will be at the discretion of the ORA committee.
The funding will underpin further learning or an activity outside the higher education system.
If awarded an ORA Fellowship, the recipient agrees to the following:
- A presentation about the impact/experience of the fellowship to be made in person at the school or if circumstances preclude this, on-line.
- Make a series of short social media posts during your fellowship year and at its culmination. They can be in the form of text, photos, audio or video suitable for publication on the ORA and Ruyton websites. The aim of these posts will be to inspire others to apply for a fellowship.
2025 ORA Fellowship Recipients
We are delighted to announce the 2025 ORA Fellowship recipients: Lily and Amelia, whose project exemplifies how Old Ruytonians can have a significant impact on their global community.
Lily and Amelia’s project, in partnership with the Running Water Project, will fund the construction of six Menstrual Health Management toilets at Kampong Thom High School in Cambodia. By improving sanitation and access to safe, hygienic facilities, their work will enable more girls to attend school regularly, directly supporting gender equity and educational opportunity. This project not only addresses a critical need in a developing community, but also reflects the values of compassion, leadership, and global citizenship at the heart of both the ORA and Ruyton’s vision and mission.
