For the first time at Ruyton, we were invited to expand our Year 10 driver education and road safety programme to include an opportunity for every girl to take the driver’s seat. The excursion was part of the Victorian Government Road Smart programme, and it involved an excursion to the METEC driving centre in Bayswater, where the girls were under the guidance of an experienced instructor who shared the dual controls with them. The girls commented that ‘it was the best excursion ever’ and that they ‘felt more confident now to brave real road driving.’
