Dr Annie Moulden OAM (’76) is a paediatric practitioner and quality/safety consultant who was awarded an Order of Australia in 2011 for service to medicine as a paediatrician and to medical administration. She is the Royal Children’s Hospital clinical director and is helping Monash Health prepare for its new children’s hospital. Annie also sees patients two days a week at the Victorian Children’s Clinic. She is on the Latrobe Hospital Board and until recently was a Very Special Kids director. At Ruyton Annie says that her favourite subjects were Biology with Mrs Meldrum and English with Mrs Strugnell and Mrs Berold. She says that Di Berold was a cult figure in her year at School and she still attends dinner catch-ups with some old girls in Annie’s year level. She also enjoyed her sport, especially swimming, and remembers fondly the breakfast at the Bate’s house across the road from Ruyton afterwards! Annie recommends that our young Ruyton girls today do what they enjoy the most. ‘Being excited by what you do is critical to being successful. I define success by having a sense of engagement, excitement and achievement of a goal, no matter its size.’ Annie says Ruyton taught her the importance of friends and fun. ‘It also instilled in me a sense that I could do anything I wanted to, provided I put in the effort,’ she says.
