The Ruyton Strategic Plan 2010-2016 states that ‘through its personalised learning culture Ruyton will ensure that each girl has the opportunity to achieve educational excellence and personal fulfilment. Ruyton will provide programmes that are sensitive to the needs of and individual differences among all of our girls’. Ruyton’s size is a key factor underpinning the principle of personalised learning. At Ruyton we are able to understand the individual needs of each student, their strengths, passions, challenges and dreams. As a Director of Learning, Cathryn’s role is to ensure that teachers are equipped with an extensive toolbox of strategies, so they are able to promote the opportunity for each student in their class to engage effectively in learning.
With a background teaching Mathematics, Physics and Science, and a Masters of Education (Educational Administration), Cathryn is eminently suited to her current role. In any spare time she may have Cathryn enjoys coaching junior sailing and was a competitor in the 2011 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
