Year 8 Urban Escape

‘It’s kind of fun to do the impossible …’

Walt Disney said ‘It’s kind of fun to do the impossible …’ and our Year 8 students would certainly agree. From conquering Melbourne’s toughest and most well-designed Escape Rooms, to designing 16 original rooms of their own, our girls have achieved the impossible again this year.

The girls’ excitement was uncontainable on Tuesday afternoon when they returned from their excursion – they had less than three days to do something they had never done before.  With the support of Mr Josh Hunt, Business Manager and Game Developer at The Mystery Rooms, our girls learned to be expert gamemasters. They had to work as a team, develop a strong narrative, design a series of puzzles and conduct market research to create the best possible gaming experiences. By the end of the week, we had girls using the periodic table to create puzzles and elaborate narratives that created an unforgettable immersive experience.

On Friday evening, over 200 members of our School community celebrated the girls’ endeavour and creativity by braving escape rooms across two 40-minute sessions. Ranging from bold space adventures to magical wizarding schools, and the sinking Titanic to the murder of Mr Snuggles, our girls demonstrated that they were more than ready for this new challenge. Thank you to everyone who attended the exhibition, thank you to all the staff involved for their support, and congratulations to our Year 8 girls on their amazing creations.
