Year 6 Community Service Team Attend the 2018 International Women’s Day Breakfast

As young girls, a statistic that stood out to us the most was that a shocking 98 million girls are not in school!

The Year 6 Community Service team were fortunate to attend the International Women’s Day Breakfast on Wednesday 7 March. We were extremely proud to be ambassadors representing Ruyton at this very special annual event with other secondary students, women and men.

Among the many speakers, one message was very clear - ‘Leave no woman behind.’ This reminded us of our friends and how important it is that we look out for them. Furthermore, it emphasised the importance of building resilience in girls for themselves, their families and the wider community.

As young girls, a statistic that stood out to us the most was that a shocking 98 million girls are not in school! We imagined that number, almost four times the population of Australia! We were motivated to think of ways to help raise money towards the Ruyton Founder’s Scholarships, and to help fulfil the dream of sending a girl to School.

We were honoured to have attended such an important event and look forward to more opportunities next term to help girls in education.
