Louise encouraged the girls to use their senses to create the story in their minds.
We recently enjoyed a special visit from author Louise Park, best known for the Zac Power, Harriet Clare, and Star Girl series. Louise visited Ruyton to facilitate workshops with our Year 3 and 4 students. The girls enjoyed listening to Louise speak about her inspiration and the creation of her latest book, Grace’s Secrets. One of the highlights from the workshop was a guided writing meditation, where Louise asked the students to visualise a particular scene. The girls were instructed to imagine themselves sliding down a laundry shoot and arriving at the bottom to find they have travelled 200 years back in time. Louise encouraged them to use their senses to create the story in their minds. When the meditation finished, students had the opportunity to write the beginning of their story. The process inspired the girls to produce some wonderfully creative writing.
