Ruyton Wins the Overall State Cross Country Championship for the 17th Consecutive Year

'The defining moment for the team came last weekend defending its reign as the State Cross Country Champions; a title it has held for the past 16 years.'

The Ruyton Cross Country team valiantly held off strong challenges from other highly competitive schools throughout this season. The defining moment for the team came last weekend defending its reign as the State Cross Country Champions; a title it has held for the past 16 years.

The Ruyton Under 14 team ran powerfully but were narrowly beaten by Loreto in the first of six Age Group Championships. Facing strong competition in the Under 15 and Under 16 Age Groups Ruyton overcame its rivals by winning both the Under 15 and Under 16 Age Group Championships. Ruyton also finished a creditable third in the Under 17 Age Group, and our senior team finished the season in style, winning both the Under 18 and Under 20 Age Group Championships.

The three major State Cross Country Championships are the State Cross Country Relays, the State Road Relays and the State Championship. Each of these has been won by Ruyton every year since May 2003 totalling an impressive 50 victories over 16 years, and equating to 515 Ruyton girls competing over 4000 times! Congratulations to our Cross Country team on another fantastic season.
