2018 Marks 25 Years of the Co-ordinate Programme

As we mark 25 years of the Co-ordinate Programme in 2018, it seems fitting to recall the words that Mrs Berold wrote in her introduction to the collection of students’ work for that year.

Much-loved and long-serving retired Ruyton teacher, Mrs Di Berold had the task of teaching the first co-educational Literature class of Ruyton and Trinity students. The year was 1993, and the class was part of the two schools’ early foray into co-educational offerings for senior students, in what later became officially known as the Co-ordinate Programme.

As we mark 25 years of the Co-ordinate Programme in 2018, it seems fitting to recall the words that Mrs Berold wrote in her introduction to the collection of students’ work for that year.

“When the Literature class was asked to devise a title for this collection, Matthew Cross came up with ‘Mixed Blessings’, a name which was instantly acclaimed. We felt that it captured the essence of an anthology – each story a blessing, mixed with others. And because the Literature class of ’93 is the first co-educational Literature class between Ruyton and Trinity, the irony of ‘Mixed Blessings’ was not lost. Privileged to teach this group of articulate and talented young women and men, I can attest, however that the blessings have been entirely unadulterated.”
