Year 12 Leadership Induction Ceremony 2017

Year 12 Leadership Induction Ceremony 2017

The Year 12 Leadership Induction ceremony is a very special event and a ritual that connects every Year 12 girl to the essence of what it means to be part of our unique community and its noble aspirations.

Former US President, Barack Obama, once said: ‘Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.’

Essentially, Obama reminds us that we all can and should play a part in the welfare of our society. His words also reinforce that leadership is open to all.

Leaders are people who care and who are willing to be proactive and purposeful, to ensure the betterment of their community. Leadership involves sacrifice and is also the recognition that others trust you with responsibility. That is very honourable.

What our ceremony did so well is that it acknowledged that every Year 12 student has the capacity and responsibility to play her part. With heartfelt and thoughtful messages of support from Mr Paul Brandner (staff), Ms Sarah Blyth (ORA) and Ms Douglas, it also demonstrated the strong community support for our girls at Ruyton as they take up the challenge of the year ahead.

I wish the Class of 2017 the very best in its endeavour to lead with ‘Exuberance and Cohesiveness.’
