2019 Kid Teaching Kids Water Conference

2019 Kid Teaching Kids Water Conference

Over 500 students from over 50 schools around Australia participated in workshops, all led by the students.

A group of our Year 5 girls recently enjoyed an amazing experience attending the 2019 Kids Teaching Kids Water Conference at Melbourne University. Over 500 students from over 50 schools around Australia participated in workshops, all led by the students. The conference is an initiative sponsored by Melbourne Water that aims to educate students on the importance of preserving our environment. During these two days, students were able to partake in various thought-provoking workshops organised by students of neighbouring schools and organisations advocating for the future of the environment, such as CERES and La Trobe Wildlife park. Our Year 5 girls, Sophie, Sahana, Eilidh, Lucy, Zoe and Isabella presented two 45-minute interactive workshops on Stormwater, Harvesting and Desalination. Thank you to Mr Doyle, our specialist STEM teacher, who has worked with this group of girls over a number of weeks to inspire, support and mentor them during the process. Mr Doyle was extremely proud of the way in which the girls got so involved in the day, connecting with other students, sharing their thoughts and asking some brilliant questions. Congratulations to everyone involved, a great team effort.
