Official Opening Ceremony - New Junior School Building

What makes a great home for learning? What do you wish for the future?

This morning the Junior School girls celebrated the official opening of the Junior School redevelopment with an exploration of these themes, sharing with us their reflections, hopes and dreams through song and speech, along with their thanks for this amazing place of learning.

Mr Peter Kanat, President of the Ruyton Board, and Mrs Fiona Griffiths, Chair of the Ruyton Foundation, formally opened the redevelopment of the Junior School in the presence of students, staff, parents and board members.

A time capsule is currently being filled, and will include mementoes and reflections from today. It will be opened in 2037, and we trust that our future students and staff will appreciate the opportunity to share this important time in our history in 20 years time.

Our sincere thanks to Ms Sally Draper and Mr Shahab Kasmai, of Sally Draper Architects, builders McCorkell, and Mr Alister Lindsay, Accuraco Project Management. In addition, the support and input of the Ruyton Board Project Control Group, led by Mr Tim Hogg, has been invaluable, as has the oversight of Business Manager, Mrs Leanne Smith. We also thank all our donors who have given with the spirit of Ruyton in mind, supporting our efforts to make this exciting place of learning a reality.

We believe the opportunities offered by the thoughtful design of internal and external spaces will support students and staff as they create powerful learning experiences: experiences that will inspire our girls to be bold, and educate them to live lives of impact and purpose.

The Ruyton Junior School has retained its most endearing quality as a place of excitement, where a love of learning, curiosity and creativity is fostered and embraced. Most importantly, we know it is a home of learning, where girls dream big and take action.

Ms Linda Douglas, Principal and Mrs Nicole Ginnane, Deputy Principal, Head of Junior School
