contribution to thecommunityof
Ruyton. Peterbegan this role inApril
2000 followinghis return from
Indonesia.Hecapablyguided
Ruyton inabusinessmanagement
sense through somefinancially
challenging times.Hedirected the
administrationofRuyton toa strong
financial positionandwas
responsible foroverseeingonmany
largebuildingprojectswhichwere
developedandcompletedduring
his 13andahalf years.Hehasoverseena seriesofprojects thathave
transformedRuyton intoamodern-daycampus,while still retaining
thecharacterandculture so important to this community.Hewas
amajor linkwithall those involved in theplanningphase for future
development, toensure theviabilityand successofRuytonand its
broader community formanyyears tocome. Itwas thisbalanceof
attention todetail and focuson thebiggerpicture inbothhis
managementof theSchool financesand thebuildingprojects thathas
been suchabenefit toRuyton. Peterwasalsowell respectedamong
hispeers, being recognised in2013 forhis services toeducationby the
StateChapterofASBA.
Inhis rolehewasalwaysamostapproachablemanager,willing to
provideguidanceandadviceevenduringbusyandchallenging times.
Peterwasa reservedandunassumingperson,whodidnotmince
wordsbutgotonwith themany taskshehad todealwith.Hehad the
ability todealwith somanydiverse issueswhichconsistently landed
onhisdesk. Peteralwaysworkedproactively toassist staff throughout
his timeatRuytonandhis considerationandconcern for student
and staffwelfarewasahighpriority. Inmakingmanymajordecisions
hewouldalways focusonhow thiswouldbenefit the learningofour
students. Inaddition, Peteractively supportedour students inall of
their endeavours.Hewasa regularattendeeatmusicconcertsand
dramaperformancesandwould frequentlyattendanAssembly to
catchupwith thegirls’ achievementsandperformances. AsaBusiness
Managerhewasa rarebreedandwehavebeen fortunate tohavehim
atRuyton.
Hewasapleasure toworkwithandwill bemissedbyall. Peterhas
agreat varietyof interestsbeyondhisRuyton role, includinghis love
of travel, photography, familyandcamping,whichwill providehim
withmanyalternatives tokeephimbusyandactive in the future.

forhisoutstandingcontribution toRuytonandwishhimevery
happiness forhis retirement.

TheDevelopmentOfficehasMoved
ThegenerosityofMr Lapcik in leaving to theSchool the
houseatnumber 25SelbourneRoad, nowknownas the
Wardynsky’sHouse, has seen theDevelopmentOffice
move toanewhome!At theendof January theentire
Departmentwas relocatedandweurgeyou tovisitus
toexploreournew space. TheHouse isable to
accommodateall our regular staff andalsooffersgood
storage for themyriad items theDevelopmentOffice
is required tohold. There isalsoameeting roomwhich
we inviteparentgroups tobook formeetings.Questers
relocatedwithus, and theyhavea spaciousandvery
light room inwhich towork, aswell asample storage
space. TheSchool alsoowns thehousenextdoorat
number 23, currentlyusedas storage for theDrama
Departmentand theSecondHandUniformShop. Itwas
alsoaveryuseful space inwhich tohold themany items
generouslydonated for saleat theFair. Fordetailsof
our very successful Fairplease seepage 16. Asweenjoy
ournew surroundings, and reflectupon thegenerosity
ofMr Lapcik, our relocationhasmadeway for the
redevelopmentof SouthHouse intoa special space
forourYear4girls.Don’t forget topop inand sayhello
tous in theWardynsky’shouse,whereyouwill find
