Sunday23Marchwasagreatlyanticipatedday formany in theRuytoncommunity.
Itwas thefirstRuytonFair for 12yearsandwhata simplyamazingday itwas!With
anofficial opening timeof 11 am thecrowdswere in full forceby 10.30amand
remained thatway for the restof theday. TheSchoolwasdressed inbrightbunting,
likea schoolgirl inher Sundaybestand,with theMoretonBayFigcompletewith
brightpompomsoverseeing theoccasion, therewas thewonderful atmosphere
of acountry fair, asour communitycelebrateda strong senseofpurposeand
belonging. Theexhilarationof the rideswasobvious from the squealsof excitement
heardasyouwalkeddownSelbourneRoad. ThemusicproducedbyRuytonGirls
on stagewasasoutstandingasever. The stallswereabuzzwithexcitement.
Itwas trulyanamazingday.
For thoseofuswhoknowRuytonwell,weunderstand the strengthofour School is in
our community. Thiswas stronglyexhibitedagainonSunday. Thanks to thehardwork
ofourparents, students,ORAand staff theRuytonFairwasanoutstanding success
and,most importantly, brought together somanypeople from theRuyton family. The
Fairwas the resultof communityconsultation in2012whenwe simplyaskedwhat
eventwouldbring students, pastandpresent, parentsand staff together?The
resoundinganswerwasaFairandonSundayour communitywasdisplayedat itsbest.
Anenormousamountofpreparation is required tomakea fair successful.Weare
verygrateful to theFair SteeringCommittee, CarolineBennet (volunteer logistics),
JennyCleeve (secretary), TimCourtney (logistics), JamesKanterakis (finance), Amanda
Peters (co-chair), TonyaPeters (co-chair) andMarilynRouhard (strategy)whoworked
tirelesslyover 12months tomake theFaira reality. Wearealsograteful toyou, the
membersofour community, for supporting thiseventbyattending theFairasboth
volunteersandparticipants. Thankyou toourmajor sponsors for their supportof
thisevent: The Leaf Store,Mario’sCoffeeHouse, LimeCateringandTheANZBank.
Wewouldalso like to recognise thegenerosityof theOldRuytonians’ Association,
13CABS, Cones IceCream, CaseyElectrical Services, Camilla,DeliciouslyWickedCakes,
OoshkaBoutique, RhubarbClothing, andSpencerLacyClothing.Wehad some fabulous
rafflesprizes, thanks to thegenerosityof the following: SurreyTravelwith Jacqui

on thedayandall proceeds from theFairhavebeenallocated to theRuytonBuilding
Fund for the redevelopmentof theMargaretMcRaebuilding.

for yourhardwork.Weareconfident theMoretonBayFignoddedoff to sleepon that
Sundaynightwitha fresh swagofmemoriesandabig smile; confident that the
Ruytoncommunity isas strongasever.
