02 Dec 2015
On Tuesday 17 November Years 3 to 6 travelled to Tom Kelly Reserve for the track component of their House Athletics sports. The field event finals were completed earlier in the term and these points were combined to determine the 2015 House Athletics trophy winner.
A hot day was forecast, so hats, sunscreen and drink bottles were essential. The crazy wind however was unexpected. Tents nearly flew away, hats did blow away and, at some points, we were worried people would be carried away! The girls showed great resilience to not let the weather determine the mood.
All girls participated in an individual sprint race, a shuttle relay and a year level novelty event. There were also optional 200m and 800m events for the older girls. This year the day concluded with all Years 3 to 6 girls participating in the House Ballgames competition, which included Tunnel Ball, Over and Under and Leader Ball.
2015 saw the inaugural Staff versus Students race. Walking backwards with an egg on a spoon proved difficult and the teachers will be looking forward to improving their result against the House Captains next year.
Thank you to all teachers who helped on the day and to the parents who came along to cheer. All girls participated with great House spirit and the House Captains are congratulated on their wonderful encouragement and enthusiasm.
