United Nations Moot Council Day for Year 8 Students
07 Oct 2015
On Monday 7 September three teams of four Year 8 girls participated in the United Nations Moot session at Camberwell Grammar School representing the countries of Angola, Venezuela and Malaysia. Many schools were in attendance and the students had to prepare for two resolutions on the topics of ‘The problem with people smugglers’ and ‘Concerns regarding world corruption in the 21st century’. Congratulations to Rachel B, Anna D, Jacqueline D, Annabel H, Mira M, Angelyn N, Alice W, Grace W, Grace Chenxin W, Jennifer W and Leyla Y for representing Ruyton superbly. The students demonstrated not only their ability to argue under pressure in a debate situation about their allotted country but also their ability to quickly embrace the complex manner in which the United Nations Council operates. This was the training day for the Evett Cup United Nations events open to Years 9-12 students throughout the world.
