Many of you would have driven past Riversdale Golf Club in Mt Waverley and thought ‘what a picturesque setting for a golf course’ – but little would you know what a fierce battle ground it was recently as teams of Ruyton Dads (current and past) fought for the coveted Ruyton Fathers’ Golf Day Trophy.
Congratulations to the winning team of the Ambrose Competition: James Bate, Steve Carroll, Anton Clarke and Neil Cox with a winning score of 64 (gross) or 51.625 (net).
Second place was taken by Scott Ferrier, Stu Tozer, Huy Truong and Simon Waters, and in third place were Chris Marsh, Paul McClure, John Wilson and Robert Wood.
Nearest the Pins went to Aaron O’Brien on the 3rd and Grant Jackson on the 14th. Scott Ferrier won the longest Drive on the 18th – 240m and he landed on the green! And yes, Neil Cox took out the Best Dressed Award AGAIN, with John Wilson a close second.
Steve Carroll’s amazing chip on the 2nd drew a round of applause from the clubhouse gallery, while on the 11th Stuart Cran gave Nikki and Lyndel the fright of their lives when his ball landed in the drinks cart they were driving!
Thank you to the generosity of our sponsors, Lime Catering, and the support of Riversdale Golf Club, Acushnet, Anytime Fitness and the Issa Family.
Special thanks to Ruyton mothers for making the day such a great event: Nikki Wilson for co-ordinating the event over a number of months, along with Lyndel Adgemis and Sue Jackson who assisted at Riversdale on the day. Most players took the opportunity to have our special guest, Simone Thomson, past Victorian State representative (and Ruyton mother), play their tee shot for them on the 3rd.
The day was full of camaraderie, competitions, surprises and prizes and we are pleased to report a very successful event for our Ruyton Fathers.
