On Sunday 29 March the Senior 1st crew comprising Beth C, Alana G, Jean M, Charlotte W and coxed by Matilda A had a stunning win at the Nationals. This completes a great 'trifecta' for the season for this crew in the lucky 'Ruthie Wirtz' scull. The Ruyton 1st Crew are now the NSW State Champions, the Head of Schoolgirls Champions and the National Champions for 2015! The girls put on a huge performance in Sunday’s final, finishing seven seconds faster than their qualifying time from the semi-final. To quote from part of the text message sent to the crew by Olympic Rower and Old Ruytonian Kim Crow ‘…My only wish for you today is that you finish the race knowing that you did what you set out to do….racing is about showcasing everything your crew has learnt and built – your technique, your toughness, your ability to stay calm under duress and under pressure....make sure you bring out the best in yourselves and each other’. Go Ruyton!!!
