Last Tuesday 26 May the Community Service Committee held a fundraising event for Nepal in the form of an auction for the whole of Senior School. We had an absolutely amazing array of items and services, donated by teachers and Year 12 students that could be bid on and purchased. The items ranged from homemade brownies, to tutoring, to lunch in Ms Douglas’ office. I was astounded at how generous the girls were with their donations and completely blown away by the prices that some of the items sold for, in particular Sian G’s batch of brownies which sold for a staggering $100. The event was so successful that we held a second auction on Monday 1 June. The atmosphere in Royce was extraordinary with shouts and cheers as the bids rose for every item. Across the two very successful auctions we have now raised an impressive $2162.
A special thank you to all the girls and staff who donated and purchased items, and many thanks to Mr Harrison, our wonderful auctioneer, for ensuring the success of the event. It is important that we don’t forget the destruction and grief still challenging those living in Nepal’s disaster zone and it is vital that we continue to support the survivors and help rebuild what was lost and destroyed. Just because it is no longer in the news or does not directly affect us, it does not mean it doesn’t matter. Please continue to support this worthy cause.
