‘Strive to achieve your personal best.’
Ruyton enjoys a reputation as having one of the most successful Cross Country teams at both State and National level. In 1997 the Year 6 age group, led by Olympic Gold Medallist and World Junior Track Medallist Kim Brennan (Crow '03), heralded the golden era of Cross Country for Ruyton. When these girls competed in Year 12, Ruyton won the first of now 14 consecutive State Cross Country Championships. This run of victories is the longest winning streak in State Cross Country history. Our Athletics team performs strongly in the GSV first division; our swimmers are a force to be reckoned with, having regular triumphs in the pool in GSV First Division; and our Senior First Rowing Crew came first at the National titles in New South Wales. As Mr Stephen Ellinghaus, Ruyton’s Head Coach of Cross Country, and Track and Field, said, ‘Success comes as a result of a commitment from the whole team to training, as well as on the day of the competitions.’
